7 Things Every First-Time Car Owner Needs

Just got your new car? Congratulations! 

Now if you’re wondering what items to get for your new car, here’s off the top 7 items that we think you should absolutely have. 

1. Download the tomo app

Well, we’re definitely against developing apps that benefit no one. The tomo app is basically everything we think a tomo member needs, in just one app.

Shop. There’s tons of ways to earn noto Points, either through quests, going for events, renewing insurance with us or completing quests. With your points earned, you’re able to redeem items from our noto shop!

Quests. We’ve came up with many fun quests for you to earn noto Points! Pick the ones that you’d like to attempt and work your way up the leaderboard. The more you earn, the more benefits you unlock as you progress up each tier!

2. Phone mount and charger

If your car doesn't come with an in-built GPS, a phone mount and charger will make navigation a lot safer and easier (plus, no worries about your phone dying halfway!).

3. Emergency kit

Always be prepared. An emergency kit will come in handy during accidents.

4. Cashcard (and a spare!)

You’ll need a NETS Motoring Card for ERPs and carpark gantries. And just a spare card just in case.

From 1 October 2024,  LTA will send an SMS notification if you did not pay your ERP charge at the gantry. You’ll have a 5 days grace period from the date the SMS is sent. An administrative fee of $10 and your missed ERP payment will be charged after the grace period has passed.

Travelling to Malaysia?

Get a physical Touch 'n Go card before you head to the customs checkpoint! They're not easily sold in Singapore, so do order one online early.

5. Umbrella

Singapore’s weather is a wild card. Having an umbrella ready in your car can save your outfit (and your mood) on rainy days.

6. Sunglasses

The glaring sun rays can be quite unforgiving in Singapore. Having a pair of sunglasses (make sure they have UV400 Protection or more) would come in handy.

7. Tissues, wet wipes, sanitiser

Spills? Bird droppings? Sudden need to refresh yourself? 

Tissues and wet wipes will be your best friends. They're essential for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene on the go, whether it's cleaning your hands after a roadside snack or dealing with unexpected messes.

8. A pack of disposable plastic bags

Trust me, you’ll need this one.
